Nine out of ten people hire the first real estate agent they meet. That’s like marrying the first person who smiles at you on a dating app.
On the latest episode of Rock Solid, host Bryan Eisenberg sat down with Batya Porter, a Round Rock real estate agent who’s rewriting the rules of what it means to serve clients. She calls her brand Buy (Better) with Batya, and after hearing her talk, you understand why.
Batya isn’t the kind of agent who just unlocks doors and nods a lot. She’s the kind who checks every fine print line in your lease and saves you from headaches you never saw coming. Bryan shared how she once caught a small detail in a commercial lease that could have cost thousands. Her reply? “It’s all in the details.”
Details are where Batya lives. She’s not just licensed. She’s certified twelve times over. Military relocation, senior transitions, foreclosures, property tax consulting. She’s studied it all. Her reason? “Education helps me protect my clients.” And in a market where prices have dropped up to $50,000 since the fall, protection matters.
Batya’s also seen what happens when that protection isn’t there. She told Bryan about a nonprofit leader who bought land without realizing it sat in a full floodplain. “It’s heartbreaking,” she said. “That one missed detail changed everything.”
That kind of story could make anyone cynical, but Batya took it as fuel. She was eight when her family lost their home to foreclosure. Now she makes sure no one else gets blindsided like her mom did. Her first certification? Short sales and foreclosures. Life came full circle.
She also gives back where she lives, in Round Rock. Every month, she and her husband drop off snacks and waters at local schools, quietly filling the gaps for kids who forget lunches or families who need a little help. “It’s about community,” she says. “This town helped me build my business, and I want to give back.”
When Bryan asked her what advice she’d give to new business owners, she didn’t hesitate. “Build off what’s uniquely you,” she said. “Don’t rush. Slow and steady wins the race. Even if you start in a garage, do it right.”
That’s Batya Porter in one line. She’s not in a hurry. She’s in it for the long game, helping families buy smarter, sell wiser, and stay protected.
