About Jeff

Jeff Barnett has practiced law in Williamson, Travis, and nearby counties for more than 30 years, and he still remembers what shaped how he practices it. A native of Austin who grew up in Dallas and Joplin, Missouri, Jeff came back to Austin for business school at the University of Texas before heading to Drake University Law School. He has run his own practice, alone or alongside other attorneys, for his entire career.

At Barnett & Leuty in Round Rock, Jeff handles business transactions and estate planning, and he sees the same pattern on repeat. Families assume their legal matters are too simple to need an attorney, until a do it yourself document costs them years untangling probate. His advice is blunt and practical. Every legal adult needs a medical power of attorney and a durable power of attorney. Anyone who owns something worth passing on needs a will. A diagnosis is never the reason to stop planning. Waiting is.

Jeff has also run 38 marathons, the same discipline he brings to a law practice built one client relationship at a time. He is active in Round Rock’s arts community and has called this city home for almost 30 years.
